Present Scenario.

Recently in the month of may there have been 2 cases of fish kills .

florida:A massive sea of dead fish is clogging Florida's waterways for miles in the latest distressing die off that is rattling scientists. Hundreds of thousands of bloated, decaying fish of nearly every kind known in the area are massed along beaches and choking tributaries and estuaries in the state's Indian River Lagoon ecosystem.The exact cause hasn't yet been pinpointed, but experts believe the mass die-off is linked to a number of factors. For one, unusually heavy rains from an El Nino year are washing fertilisers and pollutants into waterways, killing the fish. In addition, warmer-than-usual winter temperatures nurtured the growth of a toxic algae bloom and brown tide that depleted the water of oxygen, which is also fatal to fish.

Bengaluru: Residents living in and around the lake were in for a shock as they found the fish heaped around, raising unbearable stink in the water body.  sewage from the drain flowing into the lake due to a breach in a bund had depleted oxygen levels causing the large fish kill and authorities concerned had done nothing despite complaints.The incident comes even as there is a growing concern by environmentalists over polluted lakes, exemplified by the thick froth and flames from the Yamlur lake that caused ripples in the city last year.

in both these cases the main causes of the kills are

The global fish die-off is already beyond catastrophic, but the "experts" seem to have little to offer in the way of answers.

Why are millions upon millions of dead sea creatures suddenly washing up on beaches all over the world?  It is certainly not unusual for fish and other inhabitants of our oceans to die.  This happens all the time.  But over the past month we have seen a series of extremely alarming mass death incidents all over the planet.  As you will see below, many of these mass death incidents have involved more than 30 tons of fish.  In places such as Chile and Vietnam, it has already gotten to the level where it has started to become a major national crisis.  People see their coastlines absolutely buried in dead sea creatures, and they are starting to freak out.

Chile: recent months have not been kind to the Chilean coast, which has played host to washed-up carcasses of over 300 whales, 8,000 tons of sardines, and nearly 12 percent of the country’s annual salmon catch.At least some of the damage to fish appears to be due to fish farming, which encourages toxic algal blooms. But as with so many strange sea phenomena in the last year, El Niño, which warms the equatorial Pacific, appears to be at least partly to blame. The warm water brought on by the phenomenon put stress on coral reefs near Hawaii and appears to have delayed the arrival of whales to the islands. Meanwhile, off the shores of Chile, the warm water appears to have provided great conditions for toxic algae. The blooming creatures poison fish and other marine life that eat them, and this year the bloom is blamed for losses of nearly a billion dollars among Chilean fishers.

• domestic pollution is also a very prominent aspect of fish kills, we can do a lot on a domestic level to prevent this.
• toxic waste from the industries plays a huge role in depleting oxygen and global warming.
• toxic algae growing in the rivers is harmful for the aquatic life.

this is the scenario of water bodies all over the world, to solve this problem , i need to focus on something more specific and to which i can get access easily, since the Mula Mutha river is close by i chose that as my working area

About mula mutha river.

Mula-Mutha River in pune (India) is one of the most vulnerable water bodies to pollution because of their role in carrying municipal and industrial wastes and run-offs from agricultural lands in their vast drainage basins. Despite of the various standards and laws made by government many industries were discharging their waste directly into the river making its quality poor day by day. The restoration of river water quality has been a major challenge to the environmental managers. Detailed research and analysis is needed to evaluate different process and mechanism involved in polluting water. The aim of the work under the title is to analyze the river by dividing it into various sampling station. The present study also identifies the critical pollutants affecting the river water quality during its course through the city. The indices have been computed for pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon season at four locations, Khadakwasla , Sangamwadi, Vithalwadi &Bund Garden. It was found that the water quality ranged from satisfactory to marginal category at Khadakwasla and fell under very poor category at all other locations. This research have a vast future scope as the rapid industrialization results in formation of toxic contaminants leading to enormous damages to environment directly putting the lives at risk. Thus, this gathered information would be handy and helpful for preventing or at-least reducing the hazardous impacts.

this stakeholder analysis clearly states that , the fishermen and people who are in the food business are directly affected by the aquatic life in mula mutha
The livelihood of fish sellers living nearby the river is totally dependent on the river , because of the dying fishes, their carrer is in danger .
the fish that comes from the river is sold in bulk to restaurants nearby , due to the scarcity the fish prices are increasing .
because of the amount of pollution in the river the fishes can barely survive in the toxic water
